How can Christians accept Christianity as the way to God, and still give credence to the truth and reality of other religions?

- Dr. Tom Ferguson

«Return

When Christians say that they believe that "Jesus is the only Son of God, we mean that Jesus is the only perfect image of the Father, and shows us the nature of God." (BCP, 849). That does not mean that other religions are devoid of such revelation or that they do not have important insights and experiences to share with us about God's nature and purpose for the world. It is possible to enter into dialogue and cooperation with other faiths without compromising the theological integrity or faith commitments of any of the faith traditions.

Dr. Tom Ferguson is Associate Deputy, Ecumenical and Interfaith Relations
