LONG ISLAND, NEW YORK, NEWARK: Episcopalians unite for 2008 AIDS Walk
Episcopal Response to AIDS (ERA) will have a team of nearly 200 sponsored walkers and expects to raise $75,000 to benefit Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC) and parish based AIDS outreach ministries that receive funding from ERA grants.
"The recent failure of a promising AIDS vaccine reminds us once again that the AIDS pandemic will continue to be with us for many years to come," said Donald Snyder, ERA co-founder and board secretary. "ERA provides a unique opportunity for Episcopalians from various parts of the region to make a visible effort for a cause that is important to all of us and demonstrate our commitment toward fighting this scourge in our own area and the entire world."
